Geographical Separation Is Not a Hindrance Anymore to the Celebration of Rakhi !

The relationship between a brother and a sister is one of the most beautiful and cherished relationship, which is strengthened by the bond of rakhi. It is a Hindu festival that celebrates the everlasting bond between a brother and a sister. This festival is celebrated in different ways in the various cities of India. It is known as Nariyal Purnima in the states of Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat, Upakarmam or Avani Avittam in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, parts of Orissa  and Tamil Nadu, Pavitropana in Gujarat  and as Kajari Poornima in Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.

I was originally born and brought up in Kolkata along with my younger brother. After getting married, I shifted to Mumbai with my husband and now I am settled there. My brother after completing his engineering had taken up a job in a multinational company in Hyderabad.

I was a very social and jovial person right from my childhood and loved all these Hindu festivals. On the other hand my brother Vaskar was not so fond of all the rituals accompanying these festivals. He objected to the application of tilak on his forehead. This, some what disappointed me to a certain extent but today when he is away in Hyderabad, he really misses us and tries earnestly to take a leave for a few days from his work and come to Kolkata to celebrate the rakhi festival with us but due to my job and my daughter’s school I cannot pay a visit to Kolkata every year. My brother now realizes the significance of the tilak and the importance of the sacred rakhi that I used to lovingly tie around his wrist.

Even though I cannot meet him up every year, I make it a point to send rakhi to Hyderabad. I buy the designer rakhi ( http://www.rakhi.in/designer-rakhi.html ) from rakhi.in, which is a very popular online gift store. Along with the rakhi I send him a rakhi combo gift comprising of soan papdi and Cadbury celebrations as he is very fond of chocolates and soan papdi. Vaskar always knew about my love for jewellery and last year he sent me a beautiful classy CZ orange stone set, purchased from rakhi.in. I really treasure that jewellery received from my brother. It is no doubt quite an expensive piece of jewellery but more than the monetary worth it is the sentiment attached with it that makes it all the more valuable.

I really miss my childhood days when I used to tie the handcrafted rakhi around my brother’s wrist. Now I cannot give so much time to make it myself and I simply buy it from the online store and send rakhi to Hyderabad. Apart from the designer rakhi, I have also sent him golden, pearl, diamond, zardosi, silver, kundan and navratna and precious stones rakhi.  He appreciated all the rakhis I sent him from the bottom of his heart but mentioned that the handcrafted rakhi which I used to make for him during our childhood days was still by far the best. One thing I have to admit that due to this wonderful online store, rakhi.in, celebrating the rakhi festival with my brother was possible, despite being separated geographically. This is a splendid store with an incredible collection of rakhis and a very efficient delivery system.

Reinforce the Eternal Brother Sister Bond with Rakhi.in !!

The joy of having a brother is inexplicable. Those who don’t have siblings cannot really comprehend how strong sibling love can be. My brother is just few years older to me and so more than being an elder brother, he is my friend. We share a very strong bond with each other and miss each other a lot during all the Indian festivals, whether it is Rakhi, Bhai dooj, Holi or Diwali. He is a software engineer based in Los Angelos now. After my marriage I had shifted to Bangalore with my husband, who is also a software engineer.

My sister-in-law is my childhood friend and we passed out from the same college. She is a Gujrati and they have a very elaborate celebration of rakhi in her hometown. The Gujrati’s offer water to the Shivalinga every Monday morning of the month of rakhi. They observe a ceremony called Pavitropana, in which a few twisted filaments of cotton are soaked in Panchgaviya, which is a mixture of cow’s  milk, ghee, curd , excreta and urine and this thread is then fastened around a Shivalinga. Obviously such elaborate rituals are now not possible for my sister-in-law, Mansi to observe in Los Angelos, USA but she is a very fun loving, passionate and social person and never forgets to send rakhi gifts to me and my daughter Swati.

Swati gets so excited whenever she sees her little cousin brother, Akash on skype. Swati and I have been celebrating this festival with online rakhi for many years now as during this time of the year my brother and sister-in-law cannot come to India due to their jobs and school of their little son Akash. They usually come to India during the summer vacation of Akash that is during the months of May and June.

The best way we have been celebrating rakhi for the past few years is by purchasing online rakhi from rakhi.in and sending rakhi to USA. Rakhi.in is a very popular online gift store which plays a crucial part in our celebration of the festival of rakhi. They have an exclusive collection of rakhis ranging from designer rakhi to stone decked rakhi, pearl rakhi, siver rakhi, fancy rakhi, gold plated rakhi, bracelet, precious and semi precious stone studded rakhi and so on. Last year I sent a designer rakhi for my brother Arjun  and  my daughter, Swati  sent a stone studded rakhi  for her little cousin brother Akash. Along with rakhi we sent a box of gulab jamun and almonds. My brother loves sweets and was highly pleased with these gifts. Mansi has preserved all the rakhis with a lot of care and love given by Swati and me to Akash and Arjun respectively.

Rakhi.in has offered us incredible service in terms of prompt delivery and superior quality of goods over the years and I would highly recommend this online store to my friends and relatives. They have an exclusive collection of rakhi and gifts and I feel the best way of sending rakhi to USA is by availing the services of this online gift store rakhi.in
